Airtel Ghana and Tigo Ghana merged recently to become one network. The merger has provided great performance to users of these networks. There has been great improvements in data speeds and call clarity. However, the early stages of this new network has recorded a few problems of which one is in the area of data connectivity.

1. Turn on Data Roaming
You can turn on data roaming if you want to maintain the AirtelTigo network to access data services. On android, you have to navigate to Mobile Networks in settings. SETTINGS>MORE NETWORKS>MOBILE NETWORKS. Data roaming may be located at a different area in your settings on android, just switch it on and turn on your data. SETTINGS>CELLULAR on ios. If the problem still persists, check your APN settings to see if there is an APN for your network. If step 1 did not work, move on to step 2.
2. Switch to Home Network
You can also fix this issue by switching to home network. i.e AirtelTigo - Airtel GH or AirtelTigo - Tigo. You can do this by searching for a new network. You can do so in Android by navigating to Network Operators. SETTINGS>MORE NETWORKS>NETWORK OPERATORS>SEARCH MANUALLY. After you get the search results. Choose the network your sim card is registered to. After doing so, there is a good chance that your data connectivity will work.
Tip: Having an Airtel Ghana sim card or a Tigo Ghana sim card is an advantage. You can switch between networks by going through step 2. It is possible to switch from Tigo to Airtel or vice versa by going through step 2. This does not change your phone number. However, it switches the cell tower your sim card is connected to. This allows you to switch to a better network coverage if your current network signal is poor.
